The sport of pugilism, or boxing as it’s more commonly known, has long been a staple of the American sports scene. At one time, although it may be difficult to imagine nowadays, it was actually king of the sporting world and the champions of this sport were considered gods among men. Things have definitely changed for the sport since these heady times more than half a century ago. What exactly happened is a question that likely has many answers, but the direct result of the decline in boxing results in a less rich sports tapestry for the next generation of sports fans. This decline of boxing results in less betting opportunities for sports bettors as well. The popularity of the sport has waned so severely that the death of the sport is a very imminent reality and the loss of boxing results in something that perhaps not everyone fully appreciates.
The history of boxing in this country and the hundreds of memorable boxing results from all the huge matches over the years has built up a huge archive of memories and cultural elements that cannot simply be forgotten. He was a brutal fighting machine who swung for the home run and usually connected. All the previous boxing results from his matches seemed to indicate that he would make mince meat of his opponent. Douglas was an overweight fighter past his prime who seemed like he would make the perfect knockout victim for Tyson’s vicious blows. But common perception was turned upside down on that night and the boxing result that came that ring on that night were perhaps the most shocking ever.
