Boxing Schedule

The days of the high profile well known boxers lighting up a marquee boxing bill or boxing schedule are gone. Long gone are the days when people would buy tickets to watch and boxing match up’s or boxing schedule before even knowing who the fighters were, as it was guaranteed to be top flight action no matter what. Those days are long gone. In today’s world of top caliber boxing there are hardly any boxing schedules that can draw top crowds and the events are more and more being held in smaller venues in spread out locales.

The Madison Square Garden used to be boxing paradise. If a fighter could bet on a boxing schedule in the Garden he was set. That was the top of the top, having your name on a billing or boxing schedule at Garden, even an under card fights, was the dream of every young boy, let alone those interest in boxing. Every kid loved boxing and wanted to grow up to be Joe Lewis or Jack Dempsey or Even Mohammad Ali. Nowadays, if a kid reads the boxing schedule for night of matches he’s lucky if he can even recognize the name of any of the fighters. It’s seems that right now boxing is at a crossroads, as it’s last generation of stars is fading into retirement and there is no one left to replace them. No younger generation to fill up the blanks in the boxing marquees and the boxing schedules and the boxing billings. In fact, this could be the pivotal time in boxing’s history that historians can look back upon and say, “this was the beginning of the end.

Sure people have been saying it for years now; promoters complaining of lousy billings, gamblers complaining about lousy boxing schedules and top flight fighters complaining of the poor quality of competition, but these complaints ring truer today than they ever have in the past. If things keep progressing at their present rate it won’t be long before there is no one to box with anymore. There will be no new generation of boxers only empty boxing schedules, empty billings and an empty sport devoid of promise.
